    Alibre to Mastercam

    Hi,

I have drawn up a shape in alibre, exported it as ACIS file, then opend it in mastercam.
When I go into toolpaths and select an option (as you would with a shape drawn up in mastercam) I cant select anything on the drawing to machine. What step have I missed?

    Thanks

MasterCam X will import a native Alibre part file no problem. I have no problem working with them.

    Hi,

Im useing mastercam 5, it seems I can open a native alibre file. But I still cant machine anything, I go into toolpath then pocket, I cant select anything on the model, if I was to put a circle onto the model through mastercam then I can select that cicrle but nothing else.

    Thanks

It's been a long time sense I worked with mastercam. I would try to convert it to a DXF. I think mastercam convertion for DXF is autodesk.

I just switch on the wire frame and then can pick for my toolpaths (with no solid in the way) no problem. well with as few problems as is normal.

When you brought the file in it is a solid so when you go to chain the pocket you need to use Solid selection botton in the chaining Manger when it comes up. or Create curves all edge to create wire over the solid model.
