    Mori NT vs Inconel 718

    Hi All,

Has anyone used a Mori Seiki NT to machine Inconel 718?

We're looking to purchase one of these machines and most of the work we produce is out of 718.

Have heard both good and bad reports.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Lee

    NT vs 718

The NT is a great machine. Machining 718 is not a problem as far as 718 goes. We even machine 718 Inconel on a L20 Citizen Swiss Lathe. We machine 3/4 718 Inconel down to .160 O.D. If you know how a L20 Swiss machine works, you would know its all done in one shot. If we can do it their, the NT will not have any problems because you would be able to rough out the material. Just like any machine, you have to adjust the feeds, speeds, and depth of cut. The NT is a ridged machine made to handle heavy cuts. It should have no problems with your 718. We machine Nitronic 50 High Strength all day every day with out any problems.
