Arrow Water Jet Cutting Machine Sized for Machine Shops, Fabricators

Waterjet manufacturer Jet Edge, Inc. introduces the Mid Rail Gantry Model MR513 water jet cutting machine.

Capable of processing material up to 5’x13’, the Mid Rail Gantry Model MR513 water jet cutting machine is sized especially for fabricators, machine shops and stone and tile shops. It cuts complex parts from virtually any material without creating a heat-affected zone (HAZ). The Mid Rail Gantry comes standard with one abrasivejet cutting head. A second cutting head can be added to increase productivity. Optional mirroring makes it possible to cut large parts twice as fast.

Jet Edge Mid Rail Gantry waterjet systems are available in a wide range of work envelopes, from 5’x5’ to 24’x13’. Mid Rail Gantry water jets utilize an industrial PC controller and can be configured so that all three axes are fully programmable (Z optional). They feature direct-couple AC brushless digital servo motors and single or double carriages. Critical bearing components are protected with heavy metal covers with brush seals. The Mid Rail Gantry is powered by a Jet Edge waterjet intensifier pump. Jet Edge has the widest range of waterjet pumps on the market, from 25-280hp, including 36KSI (2500 bar), 60KSI (4100 bar) and 90KSI (6200 bar) models. Electric and diesel pumps are available.

Jet Edge’s Mid Rail Gantry Waterjet System is proudly made in the U.S.A. For more information, visit JET EDGE Waterjet Systems - Water Jet Cutting Machines, Surface Preparation, e-mail [email protected], call 1-800-JET-EDGE (538-3343) or 763-497-8700.

    Engraving Granite with Waterjet

Thank you for your question. Try water only, perhaps even using an abrasive head without the abrasive on. This will give you a fatter, less coherent stream than a water only head. You may have to experiment with cutting pressure. If that doesn't work, try low pressure water ( 10-15 kpsi) with abrasive at a low setting and fast feed with no ramping. Of course, test this out on scrap material. Please post a pic so we can see how it turns out!

Our customer PIW has done some very impressive etching and milling with waterjets with their patented waterjet etching and milling process. See story about them at

We have a waterjet technology webinar Oct. 26 on the Fabricator's website. To register, visit Webcasts.

    Thank you!

A waterjet cutter is a huge investment and takes up a huge space. You can engrave granite with a CNC router, using special cutting bits. That's how they make gravestones. Or, for a shallow but very nice engraving job, use a laser engraver. With that you can even make engravings from photos. Very nice. Check out digi-carver.com.
