    Can you pulse a digital driver manually?

    I am supposing the direction and step signals are 5vdc. If so couldnt I just jumper my digital drive as a test? I am trying to diagnose why my stepper is not reacting. It gets warm just no movement.

    A simple SPDT switch that operates from the common to the 5v into the step input should individually step it?

    doorknob, I apreciate it, I was really only trying to test my driver. I have confirmed that it was working so my issues are either with my BOB, configuration or cabling. Cabling is my suspicion. Going to try another configuration right now.

    A simple switch can bounce, producing multiple steps per press. The Gecko circuit works, and I have a nice pulse generator specifically for testing steppers as an option on my break out board:
