I need to know if hardware issues ESTOP signal does movement instantly stop (at risk of losing steps from high speed) or is deceleration still controlled as per tuning settings?

instant...
OK. If I issue ESTOP only when there is no motion, I won't lose any steps.
I can detect that when watchdog signal stops.
Watchdog starts after Mach3 reset, and I will be able to resume where I stopped at, with no need for a referencing cycle. Correct?:devious:
If in motion, I must force a new reference cycle upon the operator.(chair)
Thanks

Why do you need to use E-Stop, rather than just the regular stop? (which is also instant)

Because I need to open an access door and disable the spindle safely.
Issuing ES to Mach3 ensures operator restarts safely.
I don't want the spindle to start just be closing the access door, and naturally don't want to lose reference by dropping the safety relay.
If the door is opened while in motion, it will drop the safety relay, but if paused, just stop the spindle.
Is stop using the SPACEBARinstant, or decelerated?
It will pause during a circle, and cycle start will resume, but I have not tried it high feed rates.

Spacebar is the shortcut key for Feedhold (pause) which decelerates.

I just tested it. It is instant clunk stop and looses steps at high speed on my SX3. That was at 100IPM (2500mm/min). OK at the 45° point where speed is only 70IPM (1800).
Luckily, the 3 phase hybrid drivers (600W each) I will be using ( on a larger machine) have a programmable decel/accel software parameter.
Yellow pause button (screen), and space bar both each exhibit the same problem. I at least thought the pause would be OK.

The Pause should decelerate. What version of Mach3 are you using?
