Plasma- Multiple layered AL thin sheet cutting?

Could you stack multiple sheets of aluminum together and cnc cut them?

Sure it works with one sheet, but has anyone tried 2+ ? My guess is, it would weld/melt them together? If not though, it would sure be cool to cut multiple sheets out at one time.

I had .063" in mind. thanks.

As long as there is no gap between the sheets they will cut very well stacked up. I worked with a field application where large diameter parts (about 12' diameter) were being produced from 1/8' aluminum sheet. They made a weight that the overhead crane placed on top of a stack of 8 sheets (to hold them tightly together)...they have been successfully cutting these stacked parts for years.

Thats awesome! That would really increase production by "X" amount and save tons of time!! I will have to figure out the weights obviously, but sounds like its doable.

    Thanks JIM
