3D milling toolpath generating unwanted paths

Dear members of the forum, I will appreciate your advise on the following issue.

I am trying to carve the face of a cylindrical body (half a cylinder)
The attached JPG is a 3D representation of the toolpath

As you can see, at the end of every pass:
    1. The tool raises in a vertical motion to the height set as the clearance level
    2. Descends again in a vertical path
    3. Moves on to the next 3D pass

These vertical motions to the clearance level and back are an unwanted overhead.
I will be grateful if you could show me which configuration controls this behavior and how it can be altered.

    Additional relevant information:
    - The technology I am using is semi finish (linear)
    - The geometry was set by selecting the target face
    - I am using FANUC

    Thank you
    Ariel

    Hi,

Are you using a 3D Milling toolpath or HSS? ...and which version of SolidCAM, 2010? 2011? (some of the options have moved in 2011)

    assuming 2011:
If you are using a 3D milling toolpath, then try changing the 'Stay on surface within gap of:' values on the Link page. Increasing the value to something bigger than your step over will force the tool to stay down.

If you are using HSS, then take a look at the links tab on the links page and modify the links between slices options.

    Hope that helps!
