Mach 3 - Z axis started acting up

I have been using Mach 3 for about a year and a half almost two year with my home built CNC machine.

The machine has been working perfectly up until today. Today when I tried to use the jog function (shift key + arrow up or down) the z-axis goes in reverse or acts like It is trying to hang up.

It has been working flawlessly on my stand alone machine in my garage. The X & Y axises continue to work just fine ,it is only the z axis that is acting up.

Does anyone have any ideas about what might be wrong. It has been over a year since Ive even messed with any Mach 3 settings, this is like starting all over.

Would it be possible that one of the wires going to the z-axis steeper motor might be shorting out?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Dave

    Check the wiring first.

    It was a broken wire.
