Hello there.
My HAAS VF2 comes up with this error. The code is "123 Spindle fault". The mill runs great the one day, and the next it comes up with this error. I had the machine serviced regularly by HAAS. The last service was less than two months ago.
I phoned the local agent and he said he will replace the vector drive at a cost of almost $5000. He also cannot gaurantee that the drive is faulty, but expects me to pay first and then we see.....
Is there another way?
Can that alarm not be disabled? The machine runs fine otherwise.
I tried to change the voltage tappings, but no change.
The light inside the drive stays green????
The machine did not give the 160 or 119 alarms. (Over or under voltage alarm)
Can anyone help?? please

After I read some of the threads in this section, I decided to phone the agents again, asked them if anything else could be done.
The chap gave the following advice: Set parameter 294 down from 270 to 200
Min bus voltage.
I did that and the machine has been working like a Zimbabwean slave since.:bananano offence intended)

I am always dubious of parts changers. Haas has some great techs and some really crappy ones. Even though it might cost extra, I would find a real machine mechanic and pay for actual diagnostics before paying to have parts changed out "until it is fixed". At $125 an hour for 10 hours and a $2.00 capacitor, $1252 is cheaper than $5000.
