    Material Selection in Work offsets

    Hey,
    It's been a long time since i've gotten to work with a TM-1 and at one point I was mediocore but I'm back to zero now. I know on my TM-1 & TL-1 when I go to set a work offset I can choose a material and then when I run IPS it should create values for spindle speed and feed based on that in combination with the material type selected for the cutter.

    I set my tool offset and selected the material as Carbide, in my work offset I selected SS-1. When i go to generate the IPS code though it comes out with feeds and speeds set as 0. What am I overlooking or what setting do I not have right?

    I know the values Haas gives back aren't perfect but because I'm young and doing prototyping I have the time to check values online, through MasterCAM, the Machinery Handbook and through IPS to give me Idea of how I should be running the machine since I rarely see the same material twice in any give month.

    When I have used IPS, I recall having to re-enter the speed and feed data on each operation/process. IPS does not fill this in for you based off of the material/part data tab.

    Look in the machining tab of the calculator.

    Data for spindle speed comes from Tool maker, any brand and shown on
    little insert box. You should use it with next formula
    Vc x 12 / Pi x D
    Vc = Sft
    12 = to convert from inches
    Pi = 3.1416 constant
    D = Dianeter of Tool or Diameter of material in case of lathe

    And feed is stated directly on same box Fz it can go from .001 t .015
    You feel better when you do your own calculation. and is the right one because comes directly of maker.
