    hi HCE,
Today was not free time to make changes in velocity tab in machine setup,
Spent all day with urgent works and then one young guy help me with
faceted surface when curved cut. He made some tricks with rhinocam,
Now everything is fine, no faceted surfaces anymore, but NC file for simple
50mm ring with 4mm centre hole is 531 KB , is in normal ?
Made three probes with different spindle speed - 9000, 14000 and 28000 rpm,
    Materjal is 8mm 7075, enmill 2mm x 9, two flute carbide.
This young guy is very smart, has touched my cnc stuf just only few months he knows already all, he speaks that all the trick was about curved line continually consists from number of straight lines, but when before was not much these lines then now theses are hundred or thousands time more and every beginning and end of line need to be defined ... oh dear, perhaps somebody can explane these things bit wiserly, may be we are not on the right way at all ... I mean why before was not such kind of problems.
    cheers,

    PS:
Perhaps someone llikes to see this 531 KB NC fail for 50mm ring,
I have no idea how to show it in this place.

I ordered a lathe, So now I will have a Mill and a Lathe.

Is there an easy way to get Desk CNC to start up in a desired profile?

What did you get for a lathe?
Are you attempting to use the same controller or getting another desk cnc controller for the lathe?

The lathe is just a small Sherline lathe (to match my mill)

I would like to use the same DeskCNC board.

I plan on either "Y"ing the Step and Dir lines (or a switch if must be)
for the X and Y axis lines coming from the DeskCNC board.

I have ordered a second Stepper driver board for the Lathe.

I am not sure how this would work. you can save different profiles on the desk cnc board and reload them under machine setup, but you would also need to make a different deskcnc program on the computer for the lathe. I know both are possible separately, no idea how it would work together. Personally I think the extra $150 for a second board would be worth it. You can purchase a second board without the software once you have a license. Then you would just need to make a switch for the power supplies and switch serial cables, add a second serial cable port, or usb to serial adapter.

It really should just be a matter of switching profiles

I was hoping to be able to load the profile from the command line

    C:\DeskCNC,exe Lathe.ini
    C:\DeskCNC,exe Mill.ini

This is where I wish I had a good manual

Not sure why I did not tell you to do this in the first place, but send a email to clarken at [email protected] <[email protected]>. Most importantly post back with his reply. We need to get as much activity as possible so we can all learn form each other.

Update: The feature is not currently in there, but it may be added.

This should make it easier than having to start
the software and select the proper profile to use.

This is something that one would need even
if you use two boards in the same PC.

FYI: I just switched over to EMC to control the machines.

It was the easier route to get to where I wanted to be

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I heard that a big update is coming, new features and modern gui. Maybe another month or so.

I have 2 systems and will likely buy another

    Dylwad,

Is it really true? I use it almost every day. (big mill and PCB router)

I'd love some support and I'd love to see Carkin do the next generation code and board.

    Best Regards,

Thats what I heard from Carl, the main guy behind Carkin

He said new features, bug fixes and a modern gui.

I use it every day too, couldnt live without it.

The controller card isnt changing as far as I know, I think the card is fine, I could use an easier acceleration curve setup, better interpolation when z and y steps per inch are different, peck drilling, tabs and z ramp plunge and ill be happy waterline for stl work would be nice too....
