Looking for estimating software (no having a lot money to spend on) what do you use?

when you find one post it.
I am tired of making them in excell. getting more complexed stuff with tons of outside processing is getting to be a pain. went back to accouting paper binders and a pen I have less screw ups.

after I posted I was playng with quick books pro for a few hours and I can do most in there. also setting up different forms makes the quotes look nice and you can control only what you want the customer quote to see. so it might have some possibilities.
if you have quick books look into it. Ive had it sence 2006 and I still cant use if properly for shop books we just use it for invoicing.


for times on machining I just use my cad-cam software only takes me a few mins to draw most projects then I can also mirror/rotate for 2nd 3rd etc etc ops

Hello,

we just got in our new Haas VF-2 .....we are a small company that specializes
in making laminated shims......so we plan on using the Haas for gang milling
shims that require a little tighter tolerance than normal.....currently we have
a local shop that does this work for us....but we want it in house. So my question is....what's the best software for us to start with? Initally we will
do mostly 2D work....profiles and holes...as we get comfortable we will probably do some 3D repair work...unrelated to shims. The only other CNC
experience we have is with our Wardjet waterjet which uses GEMS software
super easy to use. Any help is greatly appreciated.
