How do you remove MDD001 Quill assembly?

I need to remove the entire quill/spindle (assembly) from an MD001. It seemed like with the downfeed gears and stops removed it should just about fall out. It does not. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Dunno....

Dunno if it is the same as my RF45 but you need to remove the entire quill feed mechanism as I recall.... That means the shaft that goes thru or it will just go as far as the teeth on the quill body will allow it if I remember correctly. Honestly it has been quite some time since I had a quill so I could be missing a few things..... Good luck man. peace

Don't forget the little Allen screw on the left side (by the quill lock).

+1 on the little screw on the left side - there are actually 2 screws in there - the one that rides in the groove of the spindle housing and one to lock it in place.
It got me the first time too - I had removed a screw - why won't it come out?????

Thanks all. After I posted it and stared at things a bit I remebere the side screw and yes that's all it was. Dropped right out like it should. Now I just need to clean and measure everything. It seems like there is a little wiggle/slop in the the system there.
I'm just getting back into metal and I don't remember the optimal clearance for a no slop slide fit.
    Anyone?
