Smile easy oil burner build for furnace

Hello, I have been working on building an oil burner for my small furnace. What i came up with can be made using common plumbing parts and a drill. It does need a little soldering though too. CLICK HERE to see my build web page.

Here is a picture of it:

And CLICK HERE for a youtube video of it lighting on kerosene:

    oil burner

i had a kerosene burning crucible furnace. it used a home oil burner furnace pump to pump kerosene through a oil burner atomizing spray nozzle. i used a propane burner to get to 1000F and the waste heat was used to preheat / start the kerosene til it vaporized (blue flame). atomizing spray nozzle would clog after awhile . an open hole worked if kerosene is hot enough.
    .
problems i had was kerosene boiler got so hot and pressure so high it pushes back toward oil pump and hot kerosene vapor damaged a pressure gage and vaporized kerosene steam came out. i shut burner fan and oil pump off but kerosene boiler stayed hot and vapor kept leaking, i slowly backed up expecting an explosion that would frankly do huge damage. i was lucky and nothing happened. i learned the value of 2 check valves both only allowing one way travel of kerosene toward furnace NOT back toward 100 psi pump.
    .
i had 5 gallon kerosene tank on a bathroom scale so by weight i knew how much fuel i had. kerosene burner was so hot it would burn and partially melt crucible where flame touches crucible.
    .
just remember that a oil burner often takes longer to shut off
