    chamfer mill

    this maybe a dumb ? . I got a job requiring use of chamfer mills ( 120 deg and 90 deg ) when setting up the tool library for chamfer mill It does not make sence these end mills look like a v with no flute . :drowning: how do I go about this ?

    Just BS it.
    Measure the (Z) depth from tip to end of flute with your scale and type it in.
    Check your simulations and see if it does what you want.
    With 2.5d programming I just use a profile Mop on the edge of the hole (or profile), set my Z depth to how deep I want to cut up the flutes of the tool (above the tip) and then use a negative stock value (on the first page) to suit how big a chamfer I want.
    May sound confusing but it is very quick and very easy.

    I teated them as a flat mill and stepped down . worked realy well . thank you darebee
