Hi Everybody,

I have some of the older version Gecko g320 drives (bought in 2001). The manual instructs that a 1000uF capacitor must be installed across the power supply terminals if the leads are longer than 18". I have made sure up to now to keep the leads shorter than 18", but found that having the case so close to the machine creates other problems (coolant splashing,etc.).

The question is : How important is it to have these capacitors installed? What will happen without them? Will I damage the drives? I assume that the capacitors should be placed on the output power leads rather than the input leads?

Any comments will be welcomed.

Regards,
Kiepie.
