    Error #7 rigid tapping

I get an intermittent C axis fault - Error #7 - Motor overload during a rigid tapping cycle. I run 20 or so runs and it's ok, but then I get the error message.

The manual says - RIGID TAP PRECYCLE ENCODER COUNT PROBLEM

Do you guys think this just a spindle encoder problem? I can't seem to find much info on the web about it. Any info would be appreciated.

Yes if it cannot count the lines onthe encoder it cannot sync the spindle and Z axis motion. Chances are its just a dirty encoder. At $100 I would just replace it.
We have had good luck with our Fadals milling mostly soft steel and aluminum up to 5 axis. We are always looking for spare parts If you have a broken down Fadal give a shout.

Thank you for the reply. I have one on order. For $100 I figured I'd give it a try.
