Data from Fanuc to Excel over Ethernet

Hello, has anyone tried and been succesful at sending real time and logged data from a CNC lathe over ethernet so that the data can be viewed on any computer using Excel. My employer wants me to set up a network to all our machines so they can look at data from the office. Our Fuji lathes have a 180i-TB screen and in the cabinet has a cnc card A02B-0283-B801.

that 'card' is the entire CNC controller.

That means nothing as far as it's capabilities are concerned. You may or may not have network connectivity. In any case it's extremely unlikely all of your machines have what you need to monitor data across the entire workshop using ethernet.

it depends on what 'data' you want to view but IMO the amount of info needed (by someone clueless sitting in an office) would be quite low. cycle time/machine running in auto time/machine stopped or waiting time etc. just a few bytes per hour. a network connection is overkill for that amount of data.
IMO monitoring does not usually solve production issues it only causes grief and fatigue between management and machinists. Dedicated CNC Machinists/CNC Programmers can solve almost all shop related production issues without any assistance. Management only need to simply move tongues and make speech-like noises while standing or sitting in front of said dedicated CNC Machinists/CNC Programmers (technically referred to as 'communication')

    Uh-hum. Anyway....
You can output data to RS232 using macro with the DPRNT statement for zero dollars on any machine that has the macro option.
Do a search here in the forums for 'DPRNT' if you want more info.

The ethernet related stuff is probably not cheap to implement.

From the Fast Ethernet board manual....

The Fast Ethernet board can use the following functions:
    FACTOLINK function Series 16i/18i/21i-A/B
    DNC1/Ethernet function Series 16i/18i/21i-A/B
    FOCAS1/Ethernet function Series 16i/18i/21i-A/B, Series 15i-B

The Fast data server can use the following functions:

    FACTOLINK function Series 16i/18i/21i-A/B
    DNC1/Ethernet function Series 16i/18i/21i-A/B
    FOCAS1/Ethernet function Series 16i/18i/21i-A/B, Series 15i-B
Data server function Series 16i/18i/21i-A/B, Series 15i-B

The FACTOLINK function displays a work instruction on the CNC

screen or transfers NC data, using the NC.
The status of the machine can be automatically sent to a personal
    computer (Logging).

The DNC1/Ethernet function enables the remote control and

monitoring of the CNC from a personal computer.

The FOCAS1/Ethernet function enables the remote control and

monitoring of the CNC from a personal computer.

The data server function uses FTP to transfer NC data or operate the

DNC. This function is mainly used as an FTP client, but is also used as an
FTP server. This function uses ATA flash card (ATA card) mounted on (connected
to) the data server board as the storage area for the NC data.
