Mixing stepper motors with the HobbyCNC board?

    Hi all,
Is it ok to use a 305oz 8 wire stepper for the x axis, and 205oz 6 wire steppers for the y axis and z axis with the HobbyCNC EZ board?

    Thanks!
    Gregg

You do not need to use the same motors on every axis. As long as the motor characteristics are within the capabilities of the driver you should be OK. You can hook up an 8-wire motor like a 6-wire motor for unipolar drive.

Depending on the individual motor characteristics, though, you may want to use different voltages on the different motors, which is not normally possible on a multi-axis driver board. If you are OK with using the same voltage on all of the motors then you should be good to go.

Thanks for the reply, Doorknob. I just might give it a try.
