    mori screen freezing

We have a mori nv 5000 that while running the screen will freeze and a green G08 will flash in the top left corner. When this happens the machine will continue to execute the program but the program screen will be blank as well as all macros and work offsets will have no values in them. The only way to make an offset is to reboot the machine but a few cycles later same thing will happen again...........Anyone have any suggestions?

Open the rear of the operator panel. At the top of the screen there is a ATA memory card that runs the Mapps. Might be a small cover over it, but you can still see the card. There is an eject button next to the card. With the power off, eject the card and re-seat it.

If that doesn't help, you may be getting a mapps processor overheating, check for dirt and if it has a fan on the CPU cooler. The mapps is all behind the screen. You should back up mapps parameters on to a card now just in case, if you use the Caps programming. You won't loose any fanuc data by messing with the mapps panel. If still nothing, have the service company come out and do a software upgrade, takes less than an hour.

If the mapps panel itself is dying, new ones are a retrofit to Mapps 3 or possible mapps 4. Usually when a MAPPs panel dies though, they just go.

UndertheTire...I am having a similar problem with "screen freeze" on our NV5000. Except I don't recall the flashing green text as mentioned by the previous poster. The screen will only display the "template", but similarly it doesn't display any data. We also can't access our work-offsets. The interesting thing is that we "coincidentally" experience this when we close the sliding door hard after loading parts. So we are careful not to close it too hard. Could the door closing be jarring the ATA card a little loose or is there any other way the door could be related to screen freeze? I am a newbie, so any help is appreciated.

Check the fiber optic cable first. It may be loose if slamming the door causes a problem. Can't hurt to try and re seat the ata card either. Just do it with the power off.

Thank you for the suggestion. We have replaced the fiber optic cable already, as well as pretty much replaced/swapped everything and anything over the past 2-3 years with another NV5000, to see if the problem would follow, but no luck. Including swapping the screen. I will try the card when I get back to the shop next week.
