I have 2 wires that have come out of the serial connector on my servo motor. I want to put them back in but I am not sure how the pin comes out and I did not want to damage it. Does anyone know how to remove these pins? Do I need a special tool? I assume they are interference fit but I dont want to bend them.

The D connectors look they are crimp insert rather than solder so you need the special little Amp removal tool, usually quite cheap from most electronic suppliers, If reconnecting the cables you also need the crimp pins or sockets, which require an expensive tool.
I have the complete set up as if you are doing many cables it is far easier and quicker than soldering.

But if the push comes to shove....
You have to locate the pins lever arm inside the plug with a thin needle that will be able to go in the hole at the side of the pin.
The lever arm is part of the pin and acts like a spring so when its pushed in from the back of the plug it releases itself to stop the pin being pushed back out

You can usually push them out from the front using needle nose pliers. You need to choke up on the pin so that the pliers are seated deep into the D-connect. Leave about 1/64 between the top of the pliers and the plastic back of the connector, since there is such a small gap the pin should not bend. Once you have partially push out the pin it should push out easily.

I would recommend soldering the wire to the pins to avoid them coming loose again. You can solder the crimp style pins. Just crimp, then solder and it will never pull out. You also do not need a crimp tool you can crimp them manually using needle nose pliers. Usually the crimping tools are $100 or so. which makes it very expensive just to fix a few pins. The crimping tool makes sense if you have do do hundreds of connections.

Use the special tool...anything else will damage the connector and the pins will always fall out. The pins have two barbs that flare out to retain them in the connector. If you can buy the machined contacts....they are much better then the stamped ones.
