Hey all

I'm in the process of building/ designing my 8x4 router, and am looking for a suppliers of the electronics- There appears to be a fair few around, and for a total cnc novice am a bit lost-!!

Was thinking of a c&cnc type affair- but uk based... or a recommended supplier to get all the bits from?

in terms of mechanics, i'm looking at a linear bearing type slider-me-bob, with gear reduction to a rack, to reduce backlash and inprove resolution as i want an accurate machine-! are these type things best for router? ie dust?

in terms of the gantry- that'll be an ali extrusion of some description, with a bought z axis- any recommendations on where to get a decent one of these-

then theres the spindle- and ideal a quick tool changer- i did find one for not that much ££ but now cant fing find it-!! so again any recommendation?

then theres the vac table and extractor head to look for-!!

would be nice to find a one stop shop for all of it-!!

How much you want to shell out?

You'll need a VFD as well.......

If you're just carving wood? then a normal wood router will suffice so long as you buy earmuffs as well

also is there a reason they don't do a 1/2" collet?
