    100 Units - Alum6061 Part

I'm looking for a small vendor that can produce 100 units of a simple part in 6061 Aluminum. You can use 0.25" stock to avoid any face milling. Approximately 6" x 7" in size. Cannot upload IGS or STL file, so please PM an e-mail and I'll send them along.

    Good morning fellow machinists,http://www.cnczone.com/forums/images...s/drowning.gif
First, this is not my job I too am just trying to quote it. I have not received any drawings either to quote, I'm still waiting. Maybe they have decided not to move forward, one of the tough things on such forums is there is no closure you do not always know who or if somebody won the bid or what the outcome is so it leaves you wondering a lot where you may have gone wrong such as price, delivery etc.
    Good luck.

As an update to this thread. I was inundated with quotes or requests for files and often given advice on how to change our part so someone could machine it easier. I did award the prototype stage to Ollin Machine Works in New York. The whole experience has been a disaster. It took over 4 months and me filing a complaint with PayPal to receive the prototypes and the quality of work was awful with a whole feature forgotten. I had also awarded them 4 other prototypes for exhaust flanges which unfortunately I paid for with a check. Here it is almost 5 1/2 months later and no parts.

My advice to people requesting quotes on this board:

    1. Exhaust local machine shops first. I was surprised at the number of machine shops I found local to me running state-of-the-art machines with very competitive pricing.

    2. If you go with someone off this board I would recommend using a Credit Card or PayPal. You have recourse with these companies if parts are not produced.

    3. I'm sure there are probably many honest business men and woman on these boards. I guess that I picked one of the bad apples. The few bad apples make it harder on everybody else.

    4. If you do request a quote then absolutely do not do business with Dean Mortera of Ollin Machine Works LLC located in Brooklynn, NY. He is either incapable of producing either the most basic parts or he is just a dishonest person taking people's money with no intention of delivering.
