    Question A-Axis clunk?

I just purchased up a VMC40 with a TR65 trunnion setup for 4th and 5th axis. While jogging the A axis a clunk sound that feels like it's coming from the area around the servo (or the cover over the servo anyways). It seems to happen on accel/decel, but it's not that consistent. I haven't heard it running a part so I don't know if it's just during jogging or what.

It's a sharp, loud sound, one that I don't like or think is normal but what do I know. Any ideas what it might be?

Make sure the air brake is releasing correctly. In the brake off mode check for backlash using a cresent wrench on the chuck jaw.

What part of the country did it come out of?
We have had good luck with our Fadals milling mostly soft steel and aluminum up to 5 axis. We are always looking for spare parts If you have a broken down Fadal give a shout.
