Question Lady needs Hardware/Software Advice :)

Hello... I appreciate any help you can give me. Our structural steel & welding shop needs a major update.

    Just to clarify...

I believe we are totally outdated and need to run an XP based solution.

In my research, I've found SigmaNEST which Koike just acquired rights to distribute. Any thoughts on SigmaNEST or other software? We have a machine running XP Pro and I would like to communicate with the IK-2500G either directly or via the Hybrid-D9. What are my options?

    We have the following setup:

    1. Koike IK-2500G Cutting Machine ( http://www.koike.co.kr/e-ik1500.htm )

    2. Koike Hybrid-D9/83 ( http://www.koike.co.kr/e-hd9.htm )

    3. PC Running Win95 which communicates via Dataforth LDM70s modems on each end ( http://www.dataforth.com/catalog/doc..._index_id=1132 )

    4. Outdated FabCAM software... which consists of Opus-3 and Profiler programs ( http://www.profilemaster.com/html/s_pm.html ) <-- newer version of the software

Thank you so much for your time,

    Cynthia

    Question What about hardware?

What hardware would I need to send the "code" to the Hybrid/D9 and/or the IK-2500G? Does MasterCAM send the "code" to the serial port and the D9 is constantly waiting for it? I'm a newbie in the area of CNC Cutting.

    Thank you,

    Cynthia

    Welcome Cynthia,

Just wait til tomorrow. You will have these guys falling all over themselves trying to "help the lady"

    Hardmill, move over.
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

    yes
If you look at the link you put up your control has 128kb mem.
and an rs232 port. The only thing you need is a cable.

virtualoha, Does your control support RS232?
Please review the manuals this would help and make sure what Hardmill is saying is going to work..

As I can see the machine is Router type flam cutter correct ? So all the shaps are 2d profiles that need to be cut.

One more thought can you share a sample of the code here for us.

    thanks for your time.

Ah, yes. Also for large programs, there are several drip feed software packages available.
Predator/Metacam is one that comes to mind.

Ahhh Predator my favorite. Well it is but is also the one I have been selling for many years. So I don't know if my thoughts count. ;-)
