DM4400 snap crackle pop tinkle tinkle

I'm not sure if other DM4400 owners have had this problem but I keep knocking the two piece table back splash off of its mounts. Only this time I really did a number on it.
I had installed a positive stop on the back of the vise and when I went to warm up the mill today the bolts hit the back splash and bent it up real bad.
I might be able to hammer it straight, but I think its junk.
So, I guess I'm going to have to fabricate a new one. But at least I get to make it wider than the original one so the chips fall farther away from the table and ways.

OK, I've been running the mill for two days now without the back splash,
and wouldn't you know it, it's easier to clean and seems to run better.

The chips no longer pack up in that little trough and jam the positive stops.
They just fall off the back and get swept to the side. Who woulda guessed?

The ones on my DM4400M machines come apart sometimes too. A few harsh words and hammer blows gets them back together.

If you choose to run without that back cover, check in the back cabinet to be sure no coolant is making its way near the electrical bits.
