My spindle rotates backwards. I tried to switch the leads to the motor but this did not help. Is there a parameter that needs to be changed or should I look elsewhere?

Till the problem gets solved, you may interchange M03/M04 in programs.
I am not sure, but it may have something to do with the ladder.

what did you do? new install? move it across shop?
does this machine have hydraulics? if it does is the pressure off zero?
put the motor wires back where they were and swap the incomming legs right at the breaker of the machine.
