    Sliding surfaces.

Hi, I have a problem and need some inputs from you guys. My mill (Enco45, 32”X9”) I converted to CNC a few years ago and worked find till now. A few months ago one of my stepper motors’ driver (Y axis) burned. I checked the circuit and find out that the current the motor requires was too much for the driver to handle it. The Y axis table friction has increased by the time and after cleaning the contact surfaces not much was gain. I wonder what I should do to improve the sliding surfaces to lower the force that make it slide. When the Y table is centered the force is minimized, but when its position to either side then the force to move it increases a lot and the motor can hardly move it. I am using a 1200 Oz motor with 2 to 1 reduction pulleys. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like your bed is worn out in the middle. Lack of proper oil? May need to have it re ground flat.

Thanks, that's probably it! I used normal grease. I'll take it apart and after a good cleaning I'll use that Vactra2. Thanks again.
