looking for someone in canberra to help build a cnc router

    hey,
i have built one but one of the ball screws is bent, so am going to be order ing a replacement ballscrew, but i am increasing the size and was thinking of building it with aluminium, but i don't have any tools.

what i am hoping for is someone in Canberra that would love to help me design and build a moving gantry with dual on the x axis. 260mm x 600mm x 75mm (X x Y x Z)

i have the ball-screws and liner rails

    cheers brad

So you want a cutting area of 400x750? You have plenty enough Z rail to give 75mm for z travel, it's with the x and y you would minus about 150mm for gantry thickness / width so on them it brings that down to only 250mm of travel on your Y, if you want 400mm cutting area youwouldwant roughly a 550-600mm rail and same on the 750mm you would want about a 900-950mm rail

Strongly recommend you rotate the gantry 90 degrees, to span the short dimension.

Nice work - followed your threads over from another older one.

I am not sure if these guys are in your area or not, but they also mill pcbs. In fact, they are my primary PCB supplier, both for proto and moderate size production runs. ( I do some custom LED lighting work)

Thanks for posting the pics and build thread.
