    Dropping tools

I'm running a program with 9 tools on a 2001 3016. For the most part everything is good except for 2 instances where tool 1 at the beginning of the program is dropped. The program starts and performs a tool change from tool 9 to tool 1. In these instances where the tool was dropped tool 1 is on the spindle and as it starts to turn to 6000 rpm it makes a weird noise. It then rapids down to the part and that is where it releases the tool. So it wedges the tool holder between the spindle and the vise. What could possibly cause this? The atc is not as smooth as it should be thanks to a weak spring. Could this be it? Is this possible if all the other tools change fine?

Could moisture in the air lines have something to do with this?

Also, I recently had the spindle replaced. They replaced the bellevilles too.

IT is a software glitch most likely. What control do you have on the machine? IF it is a Legacy or CNC88 then you may want to upgrade your software. If its a 104D you wont like the answer it needs a retrofit.
We have had good luck with our Fadals milling mostly soft steel and aluminum up to 5 axis. We are always looking for spare parts If you have a broken down Fadal give a shout.
