Any 3D Printer Guys Interested In Doing A Job For Money?

I did a major tear-down on my mill yesterday, to address some problems that have been getting gradually worse over the last year. I need a cover made for a set of bevel gears. The cover would be about 4" x 4" x 3", mostly hollow. Think of it as an open box, turned upside down. Of course, it could be printed inverted, so on the printer it would look like a very odd-shaped box with no top. I'm willing to pay a reasonable price to have a couple of these made.

    Regards,
    Ray L.

Check out shapeways, they have many different types of 3d printers and if you can draw your part up in cad then you can upload it to them, they will give you a quote for the various materials it can be printed in and they ship it out to you fairly quick.

Ive ordered a few parts from them already and they are great!

Oh my! I uploaded my model (see attached) to ShapeWay.com, and got a quote of almost $200, in the cheapest material! Yikes!

I am still trying to learn the settings necessary to acheive a decent print but it is getting much better by the day. I would try to make it for the practice. If it turns out alright, you could have it.

Seems like a pretty high price, did you make sure your part is hollow and only using material where its needed? I know that they charge by the cubic CM so if your part is not hollow you will use a lot of material filling it.

Theres a good tutorial on how you can save cost on shapeways help area.
