    Spindle Speed Monitoring

    Hi guys !

I need help on my Okuma machine. I'm developing a supervisory system and I want to get a signal with the speed of the machine spindle.

The inverter unit for the spindle is a MIV22-3.
It have a DB-15 femmale connector that is used for "SWM Monitor Unit" and, with this monitor, I can measure Motor Speed and Torque in a -3V +3V range.

But I don't have this "SWM Monitor Unit". Somebody knows the pin configuration for this DB-15, so I can try to get this data directly from the connector ?

    Thank you !

This connector is outputting data to a special SWM unit that communicates via RS232. This connector isn't just supplying the speed singles. You can purchase the SWM unit from the Okuma Latina America office.

Did you ever purchase this unit? Is it a simple RS232 converter with A/D conversion on the input side? Looks like the two velocity signals (AA and AB) are in quad on the original drive. Interested in a picture and pinout if you have the SWM Monitor.
