    control stepper motor driver controller L297 using Pic ????

    Dears,

    please help me to control stepper motor driver controller L297 using Pic micro controller .

    i need to generate the step and direction and enable .

    how to do that ?

    the funny thing had happned ,

    i did connected Enable o 5 volt , and set the direction . now when i only touch the step wire with my finger the stepper motor rotets ...... why ?

    thanks for your link , unfortuantly i'm not so good in assembly so i'm trying to find in C or PIC basic .

    what if i wrote a code to generte puleses on thes step pin every 50 micro second , will it work ?

    Your body acts a a receiver for any stray AF (50 or 60 Hz power line frequency) and/or RF in the vicinity. Your finger conducts that hodge-podge of frequencies into the CLOCK input of your L297. Whenenver the chip detects a rising edge, it will take that as a clock signal. Not very reliable and potentially dangerous...

    Is there a reason why you want to use the L297? It's a very old design. Better chips are available. The tb6560 requires no microcontroller. But you will need to make sure to follow the proper power sequencing.
