Hey guys,

I have a cnc table with a 40 amp blowback type start plasma machine. Forcecut 40i (longevity). it has been working great on 1/8th to 3/8" steel, but now i need to run thin material jobs (22-26ga steel) and it is having issues. the torch will light off, then cut out then come back on. it is worse in short cuts in the program and seems to do fine if there is a long run. anything thoughts?

here is the setting that are working best so far:
35amps
.1" pierce height
.1" cut height
130ipm feed rate
air pressure at 50psi

not using a THC of any kind.

Running the machine in manual mode currently, but there is a cnc port on the back for the arc voltage divider and ok to move etc. output/inputs.

would that be something i need to use to cure this?

got it figured out! have never cut anything so thin before, set the amperage at 18 for the 22ga and it cut great and down to 14amps for the 26ga and it cut fine, feed rates were also moved up to 175ipm and there is NO slag, cuts are superbly clean and sharp.

one thing i did notice though on the 26ga, the air pressure going into the water table causes bubbles and waves, ripples whatever in the water and that vibrates the work piece when cutting. that "bouncing, vibration" creates a slightly visible ripple in the cut.

anythoughts on this? I may try lowering the water level some?

OK, water level didn't do much but increase smoke in the shop so that is out. however some strategically placed weights on the work piece did a really great job of keeping it flat on the ribs of the table and it is cutting oh so clean! Lovin it!
