    X Axis machining off centre

    Hi Guys,
I'm throwing my hand up here for help. You know, like a guy who is drowning and going down for the 3rd time.
I seem to have developed a problem (well I've never noticed before in 18 months of cnc work) but a job I am currently working on seems to be machining off centre.

    Scenario:
    • 4 axis machine
    • Machining a 4 sided (flat) object
    • Designed in Rhinocam. (Have confirmed all machining co-ordinates are set to 0 axis). Simulated output of job is perfect. No abnormalities detected.
    • Using Mach 3. (Have checked and confirmed that no tool 'offsets' have been programmed into code.) To the best of my knowledge anyhow.
    • Rotation axis at X

    Problem:
    • When I machine the 4 sides at 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees, the centre of machining along the X axis is off line by approx. 3mm (0.125") on all 4 sides.

I have attached a copy of the Mach 3 Code setup, which seems fine, BUT I could be misunderstanding something.

Any suggestions would be extremely welcomed.

    Thanks in advance
    Phil

Is your zero correct in mach3 and RhinoCam, do they match?

    Problem solved...I think.
I reset WCS and re-aligned Part and Stock (which I'm sure I've already done???) in Rhinocam and noticed the part display jump about 2mm right of Y axis. (Measuring the last physically machined unit I did, 2mm offset would be pretty correct)

So BAMCNC.com....thanks mate I think you were on the right track, as I hadn't seen your post beforehand. Thanks for your reply.

Sadly I'm, still confused as to what was (obviously) misaligned and why.

Just hope my next 8 hour machine run turns out OK.

I've had it happen before, due to aligning, then drawing, or aligning then changing stock size. I make it a point to re-align before I POST.

Again thanks for your assistance. If you get a moment I have now another issue I'm trying to resolve with this task which you may be able to enlighten me upon which I would welcome. I have posted it into another Topic which is:
