    Z AXIS raising up

we use our CNC to cut foam inserts. we have a 10x4ft board that we arrange multiple inserts. the problem we seem to be having is that the the first insert cut perfectly, however the further away from the origin the higher up the the z axis doesn't not return to the correct depth, win CNC tells us that the z is at the correct height, when its higher than it should be. The Very confusing point about this problem is that its not a consistent fault. some jobs will cut at the correct depth throughout the sheet, and the next job will have the fault,
Im at a complete loss to why this is happening any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it's a stepper powered Z axis, it's probably losing steps. Try decreasing your acceleration by 25%.
