Has anyone found a good local source for 4 core shielded cable and can sell by the metre? I'm after 22AWG for steppers that can be soldered into a DB9 connector. I live in Melbourne.
Thanks, Richard

Hi richard
Im in Sydney , & there is a place 5 mins from me called cannon sound. It's not really a shop but a distributors of speakers , cable etc etc. I just bought some great quality 4 core shielded microphone cable Made in Korea . It was $2.90 a Meter. http://cannonsound.mobile034.com/p/4...e---per-m.html
If you need any help regarding this let me know, I don't know the charge for delivery of stuff from there but if it's ridiculously expensive let me know & I can post some too you just aus post.
Cheers
Riche.

Thanks for all your responses and they all look pretty reasonable. On a related topic, have any of you used 18AWG cable for a 2.2kw spindle ie is this big enough as I'm not confident of getting 16AWG into the connector?
cnc3678
What's the max amps the spindle will draw, this will decide what wire gauge to use, you may have to change the connector, a lot seem to have this same problem
Mactec54
The spindle specs show a max current draw of 8.5A, so 18AWG may not be large enough under high load.
Any idea where this can sourced locally as the suppliers above don't seem to stock 16AWG 4 core shielded cable?
Have a look at this thread re spindle and the link is in post 10
