Why are table slats not at 45 Deg??

CNC plasma is all new to me, but I see lots of posts about problems with cutting the top of a whole slat of it lines up with the cut.
Some solutions call for bowed slats, others I have seen have points sticking up from the slats.
There must be a reason why the slats are not made at an angle to the x/y travel??
    Thanks

I'll be working on installing bowed slats today. If you use bowed slats, they are all the same length. Bowing them also keeps them tight and keeps them from rocking.
Angled slats would need different sizes in the corners and would still not be tight against the wiggle without something more.

Effectively you are looking for something fairly rigid, cheap and easy. Bowed slats are still easy enough to remove a flip and clean. Some other methods aren't as easy.
I was seriously consider unistrut for my slats. They are about the same cost wise locally, but they couldn't be flipped when well used.
