At any given time there are 15-30 people in this forum. BobCAD has a great customer base, so let's see some cool parts you guys have made. Post some pictures and a short description of the job. I know there are some power users on this forum, so I can't wait to see the post.

Weekend before last, a friend of a friend wanted his watch (given to him by his wife years ago) attached to his motorcycle handle bars and was just going to use Velcro. My friend said said he knew I could find a better way.

Made this from a block of 3" round 6061 that Saturday. It is all held together, watch and to handlebars, with one 1/4-20 SHCS. The tachometer buttons work too.

    He was very happy!

    Decorative Part for Shotguns

Here is an interesting little part that I made a while back. It's a replica duckbill for a model 12 shotgun. The "wriggling" pattern on the part was very interesting to get right. Lots of trial and error but fun none the less.

    UK client !!!

I just got these images in today from Ian Haynes, and they are awesome!
Had to share with you guys.

Al1 – it is the rocker cradle from the cylinder head of a rare Anzani engine

Al2 shows the pattern, a resultant wax and a machined iron casting of a Morgan Three Wheeler spring slipper

Al3 shows the pattern, the wax and this time the casting in steel of a drop arm for the Morgan

Al4 shows the wax and the finished bronze casting for a Morgan hub nut – the pattern is still at the foundry

Al5 shows the pattern, the waxes and the steel castings for Morgan steering arms – this is a pretty large and ambitious job.

You must be thinking of Gibbs CAM, I think that was the software used for the MARS Rover

    How about an airplane?

I did the design work in Pro-E and exported the dxf files into Bobcad. Some parts were cut on my cnc router and some on a laser.

Not sure about the rest of you, but I have a difficult time learning unless I have a part that I NEED to make. To just open up the program and play does not work at all for me. I can't concentrate and can't motivate myself.

When I started the project below, I was totally ignorant on surfaces etc. I forced myself to learn more about them by doing this project. I forced myself to use and learn to use layers too! Very important to use layers.

The sub was drawn and machined using V-23. Took me a while to draw it but I learned sooooo much. Many mistakes and re-dos too.

The plaque, that the sub is on, was presented to our Director Ralph Villani, at the premiere of our movie in January. A group of seven of us made a full length motion picture over a five years period. It is a WW2 submarine called USS Seaviper. The wooden plaque was made by a friend of mine and all of the other pieces were made by me with V-23 and my Haas. Even the engraving on the brass that was left over from a customers job.

So if you are like me, find something that you really need or want to make to practice on. It will keep you motivated.
