    Tool offset with work offset

    Hi guys,

I have an issue with our 2100 Ptouch (almost same as 840D but with touchscreen) Fryer lathe machine. Whenever we set a workpiece zero, and then set all our tools offsets, it works fine. However, when we change the workpiece zero, for example G54, and then change the tool offset of a tool 1, the other tools offsets do not follow. This means we have to change all of our tools offsets manually every time we change our workpiece zero.

Anyone has had this issue before and did anyone ever managed to solve it? Siemens techs don't seem to know the answer to that...

    Thanks and cheers.

How do I delete a thread that got duplicated? Had a "internal server error" message but seems that it successfully posted each time.

Alright so issue seems related to the random screen freezes the control gets sometimes. Restarting the machine everytime the machine gets those strange bugs (tool suddenly changing type and then freezing so that we cannot change it back, only to go back to normal once machine is restarted, also tool offsets going to weird numbers, only to get back to normal once machine is restarted, and complete screen freezes at any random point.

I don't really understand, what you want. If you have a workpiece zero with g54-59 .. that is completely independent of your tool offset. If you change your tool offset of maybe T1 that has no effect to all other tools. If you don't want to change the value of G54, then you can use all other possible workpieceoffsets instead. At the 840D there are G54-59 and the same with Number 1-9 before. You can make this offset indirect with the trans command, but you should be cautious, because any ather trans, rot, scale, mirror command cancels this. After each change of offsets you must press the reset button.

The issue, which seemed linked to the freezing issues, seems to have been fixed when we put back the original first language, which is English (we had put it in French before). I'll give an update once the machine has run a couple more days to confirm that got us rid of those bugs.

    Cheers.

Why do you change offset of T1?
G54 has nothing to do with tool offset.
Maybe there is a serious bug in your system?

The operator uses the same tools, but he needs to make a few mils correction usually. Seemed to be a serious bug when putting language in French indeed, maybe there was some missing scripts. Haven't have any bugs since we put all back in English. I guess putting an HMI language different from the original would not be recommended.

    Cheers.

for this case the D control have 9 wear offsets behind each Tool, you can activate it with D1-9 with your toolcall.
