HAAS VF2 - Amplifier over Temperature Alarm

    Hello all.

Just today, one of our machines (HAAS VF2) has thrown up two alarms.

    991 - Amplifier over Temperature

    Then followed by

    163 - Z Axis Drive Fault

I'm not sure if it's the magnetic encoder, thermal couple issue or what. To me it sounds like the magnetic encoder bearing going out. Has anyone seen this alarm before? I'm fairly new to the machining world. Only been around these machines for just over three years. First time seeing this alarm.

    Thanks for any replies.

    Problem Resolved

Just positing a FYI regarding the issue.

Service tech found a stalled cooling fan to be the issue. It was an axial fan that cools the servo amplifiers. Z Axis alarm was probably due to that individual servo that was just too hot.

    Replaced fan and working great!
