    EMCO PC 50 Mill Conversion

I was interested to see if anyone has converted this or a similar setup to linuxcnc. We got a PC 50 Mill and a Turn 55 that we would like to convert. (mostly the mill).

I was told that you would have to rip out the motors and controllers and replace them with something newer.

I was also told that I can just remove the original plc controller and keep the 3-phase drivers and make a new control for the drivers.

    pc mill 50

    converting is no biggie..

i have a pc mill 50 and converted it.. first to mach3 now to usbcnc..

the pc mill 50 has 5-phase steppers not 3 phase..

you can keep the steppers (like i did) .. and just search on ebay for berger lahr D-450 drives...
if you have those you can hook up any controller youlike...

as for the rest.. just buy an inverter a powersupply.. and some other small bits and pieces and your off... home switches are fitted aswhell as estops...

    pretty easy retrofit..

    Binski,
Is USBCNC better than mach3? I mean more feature and speed.
