I have the opportunity to get a Charmilles EF20-330 for next to nothing.

I am a CNC Milling Machinist and know nothing about EDMs.

The reason why we are looking to get a EDM is to burn a simple pocket in 2" thick aluminum.

Anyone familiar with an old machine like this. I can't seem to find an information on the web other than old auctions. I don't even know what it's rated for in power.

I also wonder if it even has memory in it or if it has to run on a Tape??

I am trying to find out if it is under power from the seller, but it's a long process.

Any information anyone would have for a machine like this would be greatly appreciated.

thats an old machine.

it runs on a pdp8\a computer.
it loads software by tape, but it can store g code in memory.
hopefully they have a tape reader eliminator card installed.
it burns quite slow, like 4 inches an hour.
will burn the Aluminum with no problem.
i repair these among most other EDM's.
