I have a fanuc 6t. The spindle will run in manual and change speed with the speed pot. In auto, as in commanded mdi, the main spindle contactor will energize but the spindle will not turn. Any ideas?

So from my limited research. Looks like the Control sends a voltage to the spindle drive. It sends from 0-10v to go from the Smin to the Smax. Where can I test to see if the spindle drive is getting an analog signal from the control?
Check for the following:
Door closed?
Chuck closed?
Did you comand an M41? (to change gear) it depends on the machine.

Alex
Yes, two all three of those.
Some info
Look at the master pcb, is there a cable connected to C08? (left bottom side of the master pcb)
What kind of machine do you have? because I think the voltage is coming from the Fanuc I/O board.
It is a miyano 6bc. I also swapped io voard and did not help.
Auo run conditions are different
Pull up the ladders and look which part of the statment is not coming on
I would suspect limit switiches on the chuck for part pressent or hydraulic pressure switch -----door closed limit switch ---axis at home position ?
has it got a tail stock----is it reading quil retracted/tail stock clamped down ?
Ok, ladder cannot be seen in this type of control. I´ve seen machines that when the door is open the spindle will not run. It will run in mdi mode! so you must be sure that the door is closed checking the diagnostics page.
Also, try m41 and m42 in mdi mode. Does the machine change the spindle gear?

Alex
There is no gear changer on this machine. But for the heck of it I did try M41, M40, M42 and did not help. Do you know what diag number and what bits to look for in the diag page for the door closed?
