Set height for V-carve path on a model?

I've made several projects recently where I've carved a model and then put V-carve text on a flat portion of the model. In order to set the starting height of the text, I've cut the model and then either read the DRO for the Z axis as the flat portion of the model was cut or measured that area after then cutting was done. I then entered this into the Aspire program as the starting height for the V-carve tool path and everything works fine.

It's kind of a hassle to do this and it's difficult to prepare preview images.

Is there a way to get this height information from Aspire itself?

Here's an example of the projects I'm cutting:

Leave the starting depth at 0 and use "Project Toolpath onto 3D model". Aspire will set the depth automatically.
