    Question CAD and CAM for linux ?

    Friends,

    Do you know CAD and CAM for linux ?
    And for PCB ?
    Any suggestions will be very appreciated

    For much of your CAD I suggest you try Draftsight. Free download available for Linux & Windows.

    Just to be sure, have you looked in the software center?

    Also, there is gCAD3D for cad.

    For 3D CAM I use PyCAM which opens .stl files. Be aware that it may require a specific python version. For me that means running it in a virtual machine of ubuntu 10.10 which I also need to run emc in simulator mode.

    any ideas on how to engrave a character ?
    it seems not easy to make a simple character in those software ?

    I have created PCB on Eagle and now it's in G-simple, (CAM) but have no idea yet on converting them to G-code,

    Anyone has experience ?
