    Spindle speed for Sieg conversion

I have a Sieg X3 converted and running on Mach 3, my question is about controlling the spindle speed with the variable speed board on the X3.

The speed is adjusted by a 4.7K pot and has a switch for cw/ccw.

Could I wire a relay to the output pins for CW/CCW and use PWM to emulate the 4.7K pot and use a simple encoder for rpm feedback?

yes, you could do that, you could use a digispeed for the pwm input and controller and a relay controlled by m3 m4 and m5 to controll the direction.
I doubt its healthy to switch it while in motion though.

I have been in touch with Peter Homann and he seems confident the digispeed is going to work, I have emailed him schematics for the X3 for further clarification.

I'm going to order one, I'll let you know how it goes
