    Engraving fonts

    Hi all
I'm looking for a single line .ttf font that's the same as futura md bt. Meaning single stroke.Haven't had much luck finding anything the same. Is there any way too convert this font into single line for engraving , too use with vcarve.
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers

    Hi Riche,

This is perhaps a stupid response but what's wrong with using the Futura West 1L font that is already included with VCarve ??

    Hi tweakie

I did experiment with the futura west most letters looked ok but some didnt come out very well ie: G, I did slightly improve on them by selecting text then selecting vector size which made them all same height (3.5mm) this is a topic I discuss on another forum , & the font that is correct for what lots of us build ( simulator panels) is futura md bt.
It would be so much easier if there were a 1l / single stroke md bt for windows but unfortunately not at the moment, we're fussy people us cockpit builders.

    Thanks for reply

    Hi Riche,

    I understand your requirement.

I have a sneaky feeling that you may have to create this single liner for yourself and for the benefit of your simulator group.

It needs a little work but this may help to get you started.

    Look at NCPlot stick font.

Also, Autocad simplex is single stroke.

Would be fantastic to have a one stroke for our stuff, as this has been ongoing for years , on our forum

    Hi Guys

Still Having trouble getting this single stroke thing right, The font you attached tweakie is very close but like you said i would have to fine tune it , well ive tried a few font editors etc but cant get my head around it.
I just seem too make the font look worse.
I have attached the font file we are trying too match in single stroke , if anyone does feel the need to convert this too single stroke i really wont mind .
Cheers, Thanks too all that reply .

    Hi neil
Yep but trial ran out , it worked but meant saving every word as dxf so that I could import into aspire. Maybe saving as gcode might have worked . Just hard because your having too work with 2 programs . Anyway will keep hunting for a better way
    Cheers

Have a look at this link to the CamBam forum.

The fonts are installed in the system folder and are available to all programs.

Stickfont? Just save as Gcode, and insert into the rest of your gcode.
Why do you need DXF as intermediate step?

    Re: Engraving fonts

Using futura you need a tool with a flat end as wide as at least half of the stroke width so it looks nice.
Simplex middle line has two stokes close together.

This was generated by NCPlot v2.23 using text to g-code tool. Excellent tool!
