HURCO VM1 anyone able to get Ultinet working w/o paying huge hurco fee?

We just got quoted almost $3000 to upgrade to Ultinet. The CPU in the back of the Hurco VM1 has an Ethernet connection. I plugged a cable from there to the connector on the side of the machine and then ran a cable from the machine to our main network. Has anyone figured out how to access this without dropping $3k for a cable and software? This seems like:bs:

Hello, I have a Hurco VM1 build in 2004. I am also wondering about how to hook a Ethernet cable to the machine and use this. The quote from Hurco said 9,000 plus 3,000 labor. Maybe I would need the full software upgrade because mine has a blue screen and is not windows based. What do you think and Can I do this. It looks like if I put a PCI card that handles Ethernet It would work?
They did say that I would need to upgrade from Ultimax to WinMax $9750.00 with $3,250.00 Labor
