Joining Very Thin Stainless Steel Sheet

I have a project to build a heat exchanger of my own design...and it involves joining very thin sheets of stainless...30 gauge is my preferred material choice...

That is 0.012 inch or 0.3 mm...very thin...

The heat exchanger is for a gas turbine engine so it will see very high temps...over 600 C...

I am just starting to look into how to make this thing...some possiblities are to farm it out for furnace brazing...use resistance seam welding...or to just try welding it myself...

There are a large number of very small pieces so the cheapest way is to do it myself if possible...

    Regards,

    Gordon.

With the material your using, your limited in welding processes.
My first choice would be tig.

if tig welded, the fit of the parts to be welded will have to be perfect, it will be best to blow argon on the backside of the weld and using copper or aluminum clamped firmly, wherever possible, to control excess heat in the base metal. I will require a very highly skilled welder to get good qualty and will probably be a complete disaster if it is tiged by anyone less. I think about 20 amps or less is all that would be needed. furnace brazing or similar is probably only realistic approach
